AJ Anderson

I'm a level designer and storyteller with 10 years of experience designing and leading interactive entertainment experiences in the events & tourism industries.

Games became an important part of my life starting in elementary school. Growing up as an only child in a suburban neighborhood, there weren't any other kids to play with, but the advent of online gaming changed everything.

Suddenly, I was able to connect with other kids in the exact same situation all across the world. I made friends playing games like Age of Empires 2, Everquest, Warcraft 3, and World of Warcraft. Especially when I had social struggles in middle school and high school, these games became my lifelines.

By the time I entered university, I had found my people and games became a less important part of my life for a while…

I spent much of my early 20’s living like a modern age DnD adventurer. I traveled from inn to inn (hostel to hostel to be more exact, basically the same thing) working odd jobs and going on all kinds of spontaneous adventures with complete strangers from all around the world.

This was a highly unsustainable lifestyle, but it changed my life for the better, and when I eventually settled down in Seattle, I knew I had to find a way to bring these experiences to others, and what better platform is there than games?

The “bad decisions make good stories” philosophy is perfectly suited for games where these decisions can be safe, sustainable, and accessible in ways that extreme budget travel is not.

Games are the perfect way for people to experience radical trust in strangers, spontaneous adventure, and a sense of wonder and curiosity in their day to day lives. Games are also a space where people in need can make meaningful connections and find relief from the struggles in their lives. I want to make sure people have these opportunities.

I'm also passionate about all things fantasy: games, books, music, you name it!
