AJ Anderson

I'm a level designer and storyteller with 10 years of experience designing and leading interactive entertainment experiences in the events & tourism industries.

The problem facing the industry is that players' attention is saturated. I'm your magic bullet. Spellbinding mysteries. Alluring architecture. Slowly building tension and satisfying releases. My levels demand attention and engage players.

In my work on Kristala, I increased player engagement by designing a compelling exploration loop that combined intriguing POIs with a slow-drip of suspenseful storytelling. Playtesters were hooked, they didn't want to stop playing.

My philosophy is surprise and delight. I love piquing and rewarding players' curiosity. Nothing motivates me more than seeing players’ faces light up as they uncover a hidden secret or when a complex encounter finally clicks.

I'm looking to join an ambitious team as level, mission, encounter, or content designer. Some values I live by are testing early and often, pushing myself and others to learn and improve, taking calculated risks to make awesome things, ego-free communication, and open mindedness.

Fun fact about me: I spent much of my early 20s living as a modern day D&D adventurer. I travelled from inn to inn (hostels), working odd jobs, while going on all sorts of unexpected adventures. I understand the thrill of adventure and love bringing that feeling to players.

I'm also passionate about all things fantasy: games, books, music, you name it!
